PREMIER MOTORAUCTIONS
Premier Motorauctions Leeds Ltd is the official auctioneer for the DVLA for the sale of personalised registration numbers.  Premier were first awarded the contract to be sole auctioneers for the DVLA back in 2001 and last year again won the five-year renewal of this exclusive contract. Premier have a management team with over 100 years auction experience and each staff member has been hand picked from the industry.

BUSINESS CHALLENGES
An initial meeting was held between our Business Systems Account Manager Stuart Pollard and Julie Harker, the DVLA Administration Manager, with a view to installing a mobile switchboard at the auction venues to improve communications and to reduce overall costs - they were originally spending a lot on set up costs i.e. temporary installations and call charges to mobiles.
 
Six auctions are held throughout the year at various prestigious locations around the country and are attended by hundreds of people bidding on personalised number plates. In addition to customers bidding in person, Premier also offer a telephone bidding service and it is imperative that the telephone lines are reliable and cater for all their requirements.

SOLUTIONS
As there were other companies involved in the tender process, to offer the customer a unique proposition which would make Link Telecom stand out from the crowd, we presented a FREE, no obligation, ‘try before you buy’ scheme.

THE RESULT
The system needed to be completely configurable dependent on location, to offer in-depth call statistics in order to track and trace effectively, to have a recordable facility to keep a trace of all conversations and to incorporate cordless telephony.

Initially the company was using 22 separate analogue lines, each with its own dedicated purpose as there was no switchboard to allow line sharing. This was based on the fact that they had 10 telephone Bidding Clerks and the rest were required for enquiries, payment office, a fax machine and a live feed.

Link Telecom were able to use Trunk Line Utilisation which showed that the maximum number of lines in simultaneous use was only ever 15. This meant that fewer lines could be used which alone made a huge saving. The telephone system that was sold also needed to be versatile for use up to 6 times a year, up and down the UK

In addition a new telephone system was installed for the DVLA Team at Head Office and this gives our customers a better service and also allows us to increase and decrease staffing levels as required.
